The Pink Tie Affair was founded in 2008 by Terry DiBattista and Judi Albert to support a friend diagnosed with breast cancer. The first event, a dinner/dance to raise money for Terry’s childhood friend, was a success—raising $6,000. What began as a single fundraising event has grown into a dedicated nonprofit providing financial assistance to individuals in the Pittsburgh area facing breast cancer.
In 2009, The Pink Tie Affair became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the generosity of the community has allowed the organization to continue helping those in need. Under Terry’s leadership, the Pink Tie Affair hosted its first golf outing, which has since become the organization’s primary source of fundraising.
Lauren Emge later joined the board after the organization provided financial assistance to her mother during her battle with cancer. In 2023, Terry and Judi retired, and Lauren stepped up as President, bringing together a passionate new board—Lindsey Bodell, Stacey Fennell, Nikki Kester, Alaina Samuel, and Keri Cahill. Together, they are introducing fresh ideas, including a yearly bingo event and online raffles, to expand fundraising efforts and community impact.
